RM extends a welcome to bats

The Rural Municipality (RM) of Dauphin has gone batty.
Reeve Dennis Forbes explained council recently invested in six bat boxes.
“They’re a natural way of controlling night flying insects,” he said, adding two boxes will be hung in Keld Park, two at Sifton Beach and the last two at Stoney Point Beach.
Council members are taking on the project.
“Not to interfere with public works, but we were going to do it as council,” Forbes said, noting the boxes were made by the HERO Club of Dauphin, as a local fund-raiser.
“It’s just an environmentally friendly way of trying to control insects at the beach and parks.”
