RCMP wrap up 2017-18 Holiday Checkstop program

Manitoba RCMP wrapped up the 2017-18 Holiday Checkstop Program with a series of 22 checkstops between Dec. 25, 2017 and Jan. 1, 2018, which involved, 366 vehicles across the province.
As a result of those stops and regular patrols, police charged 21 people with Criminal Code impaired driving.
The highest blood/alcohol reading reported was .190, more than twice the legal limit.
As well, police issued five alcohol-related tiered administrative roadside suspensions and laid 208 traffic-related Highway Traffic Act charges, the majority for speeding and seatbelt offences, along with 130 warnings for various other offences.
