Rangers knocked out of playoff race

The Parkland Rangers were in a position to win both games of a weekend doubleheader with the Kenora Thistles this weekend, which would have done wonders for their postseason aspirations. Instead, they were eliminated from the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League playoffs.
Parkland was officially eliminated from playoff contention, Sunday afternoon, when the Southwest Cougars beat the Winnipeg Thrashers, 2-1 in Winnipeg.
The Rangers were still mathematically alive after dropping both games to Kenora.
Carter Cockburn’s power-play goal with two seconds left in the first period, staked the Rangers to a 1-0 lead, Friday in Dauphin. But it was a lead they could not hold.
