DFC housing program undergoing growth

As part of its long-term strategic plan, the Dauphin Friendship Centre (DFC) has been expanding its housing program.
“We are looking at doing a mix of housing for families, individuals and transitional housing,” DFC executive director Jeremy Smith said.
DFC currently operates 32 housing units in the community, have purchased existing units, and are in the process of building two duplexes, for families needing transitional housing.
To qualify for transitional housing from DFC, Smith explained, a family would have to be homeless or have inadequate housing in Dauphin, which may include people who are relocating to the community for employment or schooling and can not find a place to stay.
