Golfers hit the links for Night Light Golf fund-raiser

The Dauphin Beach Healthy Living Committee hosted a successful Night Light Golf Tournament, Friday at the Dauphin Lake Golf Club, with about 100 people taking in the festivities.
The event was a fund-raiser for a multi-court at Dauphin Beach, which will be built by Gloria’s Park on the road to the golf course.
Organizer Chris Carefoot said the event raised $5,960.
“We want to thank the Dauphin Lake Golf Course for donating the course for the evening. Twin Motors and Pernarowski Accounting were the title sponsors. They bought all the night light paraphernalia,” she added.
“We had many, many corporate sponsors. Thanks, thanks, thanks to the sponsors. Because we can’t do stuff like that without the sponsors.”
Golfing started between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
“And we partied and danced until about quarter to three. It’s two hours (for the golfing), then we came in and sat around and danced and had good music outside,” Carefoot said.
Carefoot noted the multi-court will be built by volunteers on land donated by Ebb and Flow Investment Group, the owners of the golf club.
“We have been raising money for a couple of years now,” Carefoot said.
“With this money, we’re actually going to buy rebar, for the cement. We buy as we go along. We maintain the park and we’re going to maintain the multi-court.”
Carefoot pointed out the multi-court, which will include tennis, pickleball, basketball and badminton, will be available for everyone to use. They will also try to set it up for volleyball, as well.
“The guys always go golfing, so this is something that women can do. And we’re using the fence of the park, so you can be watching the kids,” she said.
Carefoot hopes construction of the multi-court can begin next year. She also noted the committee has a charitable tax number, so anyone who wants to donate can receive a tax receipt.
Another fund-raiser is planned for the Christmas season. The Night Light Golf Tournament will return, Aug. 9, 2019.
