Kings fall short on the road

It was not the return the Dauphin Kings envisioned when they resumed their schedule after the Christmas break.
The Kings dropped a 5-4 decision to the Winkler Flyers, Friday in Winkler, then lost 3-1 to the Steinbach Pistons, Saturday in Steinbach.
Kings head coach and general manager Doug Hedley said the Kings got off to a good start in Winkler, coming back from an early deficit to take the lead.
But Winkler tied it with one second left in the frame and regained the lead late in the second period.
Dauphin’s Achilles heel this year is when they have a four or five minute stretch where they lose focus and make mistakes they are not accustomed to making.
“It just seems like everytime there’s a mistake, it ends up in the back of our net,” Hedley said.
After falling behind 5-2, the Kings scored twice in the last five minutes to make it close, but they could not net the equalizer.
