Ste. Rose Food bank rises from humble beginnings

After seven years of operation, the Ste. Rose Food Bank is going strong.
Angele Delaurier, one of three volunteer co-ordinators who run the Ste. Rose Food Bank, explained the project started in 2012, after a resident asked Louise Debeuckelaere if a food bank was possible in Ste. Rose.
“Louise started in March to get the paperwork done, to get food from Winnipeg Harvest delivered. The first delivery of food was in July of 2012,” she said, noting at the time, the food bank had just 10 families to serve.
That clientele has grown and the food bank is now feeding 50 families every month, comprised of approximately 45 adults and 38 children in the RM of Ste. Rose, including residents of Ochre River, Laurier, Ste. Amélie, Rorketon and the surrounding areas.
