Workshops to benefit local musicians

Dauphin is packed with great talent and Manitoba Music and Manitoba Film and Music (MFM) are hosting a workshop at the Watson Art Centre (WAC), to tap into that potential.
An Intro to the Music Business and MFM Music Funding Program workshop, with industry experts Claire Boning from Manitoba Music and Stephen Carroll from MFM, is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Old Fire Hall in the WAC, Oct. 29.
MFM is the provincial funding agency for the music industry in Manitoba, Carroll explained, and Manitoba Music is the music industry association for the province, charged with developing the music industry, providing opportunities and training.
“So this workshop is going to be a two-pronged workshop covering introduction to the music business and the basic roles and career opportunities, training opportunities, funding and strategies regarding building a career in the music industry,” Carroll said, pointing out it is for entrepreneurs working on the industry side of the business and artist entrepreneurs working and developing their career as a musician, songwriter or producer.
