Lots to figure out for new Inter-Mountain Watershed District

The newly-formed Inter-Mountain Watershed District (IMWD) has some growing pains ahead, as the first-ever meeting of the amalgamated conservation district highlighted a few issues.
The first meeting of the boards of the Intermountain Conservation District (IMCD) and the Turtle River Watershed Conservation District (TRWCD), manager of conservation programs Jeff Thiele explained, was a large undertaking.
Thiele compared it to starting a new organization, as TRWCD has charitable status and IMCD is a non-profit.
“So we have to figure that out. And Canada Revenue Agency, views that differently. Trying to figure out bank accounts, it’s just endless,” he said, noting both groups have different mandates.
