Police deal with two serious calls


Dauphin RCMP are investigating two significant occurrences from last week.
Shots fired
On Apr. 7, at 9:45 p.m., Parkland RCMP responded to a call of shots fired at a residence in the RM of Dauphin.
Officers attended and were advised that a 29-year-old man had discharged a firearm. The man had left before police arrived.
No one was injured during the incident.
On Apr. 8, the man was located by Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP and arrested.
He was transported to Dauphin where he was later remanded into custody.
Daniel Renner of Dauphin is charged with several Criminal Code offences including discharging a firearm with intent, pointing a firearm, uttering threats, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
RCMP continue to investigate.
On Apr. 10, at 1:30 p.m., Dauphin RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Whitmore Avenue East and Mountain Road.
RCMP, the Dauphin Fire Department and EMS attended and located a vehicle in the ditch in front of Assiniboine Community College.
The vehicle had been travelling eastbound on Whitmore Avenue when it lost control and struck a tree.
The driver and sole adult occupant, a 25-year-old female from Ochre River, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
She was later arrested for Impaired Driving and released the following morning.
The three children in the vehicle were also treated for minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
