Dauphin RIDE program cancels operations for 2020

The Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in Dauphin will not be operating this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Organizer John Shuttleworth said cancelling this year’s program was a hard decision.
“I talked with my wife Anne and some of our workers, to see what they thought. And we were worried, how could we keep distance? We go and pick people up and how do we know what they’ve been in. We decided, maybe it’s best to leave it be this year. And that’s what we decided,” he explained.
This would have been the RIDE program’s 30th year of operation. It began with six volunteers in its first year and has grown to the point where they had about 80 drivers last year.
