Snowmobile trek makes its way through Dauphin

A Winnipeg man has embarked on a 5,000-km snowmobile ride throughout southern Manitoba to raise awareness and sell raffle tickets in support of First Steps Wellness Centre in Winnipeg.
The centre’s executive director Shane Hartje hopes to sell 5,000 raffle tickets, of which the grand prize is a Polaris snowmobile.
Hartje, who passed by Dauphin twice on his epic trek, was in a dirt bike accident that left him a paraplegic in 2016. He founded Winnipeg’s First Steps Wellness Centre, which specializes in rehabilitation for people with neuro-muscular disorders.
He wanted to come up with a creative winter fund-raiser that could raise awareness of the facility and what they do.
