ACC students to build first net-zero energy home

The willingness of the community to come together and support a green project will result in the construction of the first net-zero energy home built by students in Manitoba this fall.
Carpentry and Woodworking students at the Parkland Campus of Assiniboine Community College (ACC) are building a net-zero energy home in Dauphin.
“The whole project itself wouldn’t exist, if it wasn’t for the support from community partners,” said Steve Sobering, energy manager for the City of Dauphin, listing partnerships with the City of Dauphin, Dauphin Co-op Building Centre, Catalyst Credit Union, Manitoba Hydro and Natural Resources Canada, which is funding the only project in Manitoba up to $182,954.
