Benefit planned for victims of Christmas Day fire

Christmas Day saw a family lose everything they own.
At approximately 7 p.m., Dauphin Fire Department (DFD) was dispatched to a structure fire south east of the City of Dauphin.
Upon arrival firefighters found the home was a complete loss. There were no walls remaining, as the fire had burned unnoticed for a period of time.
Crews remained on scene for approximately two hours to extinguish the embers surrounding the foundation.
The flames were noticed by neighbours, as the owner was not home at the time of the incident. There are no injuries to report.
DFD Fire Chief Cameron Abrey said the fire is not suspicious in nature and due to the extent of the damage, the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
Family and friends of the family are hosting a benefit social, Jan. 27, at 9 p.m. in Ochre River Community Hall at 401 Mann St.
Tickets are available from Danny and Danita Whyte at Country Boys Choppers, Corrina’s on Main, Dauphin Co-op Gas Bar on Mountain Road, Vince and Ashley Morton, Tyson Stoski, Jenny Lynn Morton in Brandon, Fudds Convenience Store, Carla Butterfield, Dave Morton and Alyson Sametz.
For information on additional donations to the family, contact Alyson at 204-572-5789 or at alyson.sametz@hotmail.com.
