Gaber taking hockey skills to play at UND

A desire to play college hockey closer to home led Riese Gaber of Gilbert Plains to drop his scholarship to Western Michigan University in favour of attending the University of North Dakota (UND), where he will play for the Fighting Hawks.
The 19-year-old former Dauphin King announced his scholarship to UND before Christmas.
“I just wanted to be closer to home and I didn’t feel (Western Michigan) was the right fit for me. So I de-committed and ended up with a scholarship to the University of North Dakota. So I’m super pumped,” Gaber said.
Once he became eligible again, UND and Gaber started discussions. After visiting the school, Gaber liked what he saw and decided to take their offer of a scholarship.

More on Gaber can be found in this week's Dauphin Herald.
