Dauphin dollars down

The province is putting additional money into infrastructure funding for municipalities this year, but the way the money is being distributed will mean less for the City of Dauphin.
In a recent announcement, the Manitoba government indicated it will be distributing an additional $10 million in unconditional operating funding to support critical infrastructure needs.
The additional funding will be allocated based on population thresholds and all local governments will receive an equitable share. The funds will be included in municipalities’ normal operating grant, referred to as “basket funding” by the province.
In the past, money was distrubuted through an application process for municipal governments, which had projects ready to go and were prepared to provide matching dollars.
