Dauphin RCMP make arrest in armed robbery


At approximately 8:10 p.m., June 24, Dauphin RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at a business on Main Street in Dauphin.
A lone male entered the store carrying a long barrelled gun and demanded money. The male suspect struck two employees with the gun, took cash and cigarettes, and fled on foot.The suspect ran to a nearby apartment building and entered one of the units. Officers evacuated tenants from nearby apartments and contained the area while a negotiator made contact with the suspect.
On June 25, at approximately 1:35 a.m., the suspect surrendered to police and was arrested.
An 18-year-old male from Dauphin is currently in custody and numerous charges are pending.
The employees sustained minor injuries during the robbery. Officers seized a sawed off shotgun, ammunition and recovered some of the stolen property.  
RCMP continue to investigate.
