The City of Dauphin will be changing some aspects of its operations to ensure the safety of their staff and the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The changes are being made based on the most recent directives from Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living and the Government of Canada, while keeping staff working to provide municipal services to the public.
Effective immediately, city hall will be closed to the public. Payments can be made via cheque or cash using the drop-box by the north entrance, or through financial institutions.
Communication with staff can occur via email or phone. In-person communication for all other reasons are by appointment only, and only if that person is not at risk of having contracted COVID-19.
The city’s Public Works Shop at 22 Jackson Street will also be closed to the public. The utility service, as well as snow removal in case of a snow storm and garbage removal will operate as usual. The Waste Disposal Site will operate as usual.
Also closed is the Fire Hall at 121 2nd Street NW. Fire services will operate as usual.
Contact information can be found at: http://www.dauphin.ca/administration/city-contacts.
In a media release, the City of Dauphin indicated that because it takes this situation seriously and values the health and safety of everyone in the community, administration will review and update this plan as the authorities provide new information and as the situation evolves.
The City encourages event organizers, businesses, and residents in the community to heed the warnings and follow the directives as best as possible.
