Musgrave commits to Cougars

McCreary’s Gina Musgrave will be keeping her volleyball skills close to home as she has committed to play for the Assiniboine Community College Cougars, next season.
Musgrave was first approached by Cougars head coach Jeff Maxwell in Grade 11 when he told her everything ACC has to offer.
“And it was kind of a last minute decision for me this year. But I knew I wanted to play volleyball next year and I knew Jeff would help me improve in every way that I need. So that was how I made my decision,” she added.
Musgrave reached out to Brandon University, but never got a response. All Musgrave knew was she wanted to stay close to home.
“So it wasn’t really a hard decision, either,” she added.
Musgrave is excited about the experience of playing college volleyball.
“And for good coaching and to meet an awesome bunch of girls and get to know them all. And, hopefully, improve and get to play more volleyball over the years,” she added.
Musgrave hopes to improve her overall court game, as well as her thought process and mental game to get her ready for games.
“Because it’s a lot more stressful going into college versus high school for me. And just my overall play and quick thinking. Every aspect you can always improve on,” she added.
The six-foot middle sees her work ethic and her height as strengths in her game.
“I don’t really get down on myself a lot, so it’s easy for me to stay positive on the court,” Musgrave said.
Musgrave has enrolled in the ACC’s Office Skills program.
