Love on national volleyball team radar

June proved to be quite the month for Dauphin’s J.J. Love.
The local product was recently named the Varsity Male Athlete of the Year at the DRCSS. And on top of that, he was one of 30 players named to the roster for Team Canada’s U19 men’s virtual training group.
“I was very happy and honoured to get to represent Canada. It’s a bummer that we don’t get to play this summer, but if things go well, we’ll be playing next summer,” he said, adding his goal is to get better every year and play at the highest level possible.
The virtual training will consist of two Zoom sessions a day, breaking down film and working on mental training.
“And then we’ll get also physical training sent to us,” Love added.
The coaches have told the players to be part of every Zoom call and to put in their best effort so they can develop with the tools provided.
Being on the national team’s radar does not really change anything, Love. said.
“I’ve still got to train hard to get to the level I want to get to,” he said, adding he is looking forward to getting back on the court for his final year of high school volleyball in the fall.
