Provincial order changes rules

A temporary provincial order has changed the way municipalities will operate in the short term.
In an effort to improve the function of municipal governments under the umbrella of current public health orders, the province made some changes to several provincial acts under The Emergency Measures Act, including the The Municipal Act, The Planning Act, The Public Schools Act, and The Winnipeg Charter.
The “Order re: Temporary Suspension of Local Government Provisions” was made on Dec. 21, 2020 and last until Apr. 30.
While changes under the Public Schools Act and the Winnipeg Charter do not affect the City of Dauphin, the other changes have the potential to affect local governance.
