Dauphin Man Facing Kidnapping Charges


A Dauphin man is in custody facing kidnapping charges following an incident in the southeast corner of the city last week.

Daniel Allen Renner, 30 is also facing charges of breaking and entering, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a release order in connection to the incident.

On May 13, at 2:35 p.m., Dauphin RCMP received a report of a man attempting to stab a woman at a residence on 3rd Avenue SE.

Officers attended the scene and were advised that the man had broken into the home armed with a knife and grabbed a 21-year-old woman, who was known to him, and forced her out of the residence. They fled on foot.

Patrols were made in the immediate area, and officers located the suspect, along with the victim, a short distance away. The man was arrested without incident. and the victim was unharmed. Officers located the knife nearby.

Dauphin RCMP continue to investigate.
