Facey Tops The Field In First Golf Tournament Of The Year


The Gilbert Plains Country Club hosted its first tournament of the year, Saturday, with 91 golfers hitting the links in the Men’s Open.

Chad Facey claimed top spot after shooting a 71, one shot ahead of runner-up Dale Murray. Jay Thiessen was third with a 73.

Corbin Pasternak won the first flight over runner-up Regan Hedley, while Shawn McQuarrie was third. No scores were provided.

In the second flight, Chad Jones shot an 83 to claim top spot. Joey Pasternak was second on a count back over Scott Lynxleg.

Jordan McKay was awarded first place in the third flight thanks to a count back. Scott McCallum was second. Darrell Harris was third with an 88.

The fourth flight title went to Tom Hanke on a count back over runner-up Brad Wright and third-place finisher Allan Duff. They all finished with a 91.

Brent Scales won the fifth flight after carding a 93. George McKay took second place on as count back over Lloyd Campbell.

Mitchell Rauliuk shot a 98 to win the sixth flight. Richard Genaille was second with a 99 and Nathan Zadorozny was third with a 100.

First place in the seventh flight went to Jordan McElroy with a 107. Kevin Hockridge shot a 108 to finish second and Herman Spence was third with a 109.

The closest-to-the-hole winner on number 4 was Dale Murray, John Tomlinson on number 9, Kieran Raknerud on number 14 and Regan Hedley on number 17.

The next scheduled tournament at GPCC is the two-person senior scramble, June 28.
