Arrest Made In Connection To Homicide

Police have made an arrest in connection with a homicide in the city of Dauphin last week.
Yesterday, police arrested Cheyenne Beaulieu, a 30-year-old man from Dauphin in connection with the incident.

Beaulieu was charged with manslaughter.

He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Dauphin Provincial Court.

On July 15, at approximately 1:50 a.m., Dauphin RCMP received a report that a 33-year-old man knocked on the door of a residence in the south end of Dauphin, looking for assistance. The man was injured and homeowners called an ambulance.

The ambulance transported the man to Dauphin Regional Health Centre, where he succumbed to his injuries.

RCMP Major Crime Services was alerted and immediately and took over the investigation. At the time, RCMP spokesperson Tara Seel said Dauphin residents should not fear for their safety.

“To hear that there’s been a homicide in a community is always jarring and startling, but I can assure you that our Major Crime Services investigators, as well as your local Dauphin RCMP detachment, are working diligently to figure out what occurred,” Seel said, adding at that point in the investigation police were still piecing together what exactly happened.

Officers could be seen removing boxes from a residence on Third Street South East.

“We can’t say the motivations or the circumstances. So to say that public safety is absolutely not an issue wouldn’t be accurate, but do we feel that the public at large is at risk? No we do not.”

The investigation is continuing. If you have information, please call Dauphin RCMP at 204-622-5020, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
